Architecture For People

For Community

01

We are Pawa

PAWA Architecture is a Cairns and Papua New Guinea (PNG) based creative design studio specialising in climate-responsive, tropical and sustainable architecture.

Our vision is to provide “architecture for people, for community” and is embedded within all of our design projects which is the key driver to our success.

PAWA has the necessary skills to undertake a wide range of design categories comprising residential, commercial, industrial, education, health, civic and tourism projects.

We specialise in tropical architecture, community-focussed remote field architecture, aid development and disaster responsive design.

02

Why PAWA?

PAWA derives from the PNG pidgin translation of “strength” and “power” and underpins our core values and design ethos:

“We as Architects must strive to build up, empawa and repawa, not only people but community throughout the entire architectural design process.”

The term “Architect” is reserved for those persons only whom are registered under a government-regulated board in their respective state or territory in accordance with the Architects Act (2002). The main objective of this Act is to protect the public by ensuring the services of an architect are delivered in a professional and competent way.

PAWA has Registered Architects under the Board of Architects Queensland and the Board of Architects of Papua New Guinea respectively.

Each PAWA project is precisely managed and handled by one of our Registered Architects from start to finish to maintain a level of confidence in the standard provided to our clients.

PAWA is also PQC Registered under the Queensland Government as a Level 3 (Industry best practice) Consultant.
